BOSTON (Reuters) – The son of fallen Chinese politician Bo Xilai graduated from Harvard University's Kennedy School of Government on Thursday, capping a tumultuous academic year that also placed him in the center of his homeland's biggest leadership crisis in two decades. Bo Guagua, whose perceived lavish lifestyle overseas has created a firestorm on the Internet back in China, wore a black cap and gown with crimson hood when he accepted his diploma at a commencement ceremony in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

Kuwaiti artist "more determined" after exhibition ban

KUWAIT (Reuters) – A Kuwaiti artist whose pictures of men were deemed “obscene” by authorities said she would keep on producing art that challenged perceptions of society in the Gulf Arab state after her exhibition was shut down. Officials sent by the government told the gallery showing Shurooq Amin’s work to close her “It’s a Man’s World” exhibition last month, three hours after it opened, the artist said. The works were “indecent” and “obscene”, a notice from the Commerce Ministry, seen by Reuters, said.

AP – A judge called the imprisoned son of actor Michael Douglas reckless and irresponsible as he nearly doubled his prison sentence Wednesday from five years to 9 1/2 years for repeated drug offenses.
