(Reuters) – A London lawyer has credited actor Dustin Hoffman for saving his life when he suffered a heart attack while jogging in the city’s Hyde Park, becoming the latest celebrity in recent weeks to help rescue a person in crisis. Cowell, the music mogul turned TV producer who created “The X Factor” talent show program that airs in both Britain and the United States, was confronted by the intruder late on Saturday at his home in west London, police said. “There was a loud bang and Simon rushed upstairs to find out what was going on,” Cowell’s spokesman Max Clifford told the Sun newspaper

Charlotte Church wins $951,400 hacking damages

LONDON (Reuters) – Singer Charlotte Church and her parents settled her phone-hacking damages action against the publishers of the now defunct News of the World for 600,000 pounds ($951,400) at the High Court on Monday. The settlement, one of the highest to be paid out in the phone-hacking scandal, includes 300,000 pounds in legal costs. Lawyers for the 26-year-old and her parents, James and Maria, confirmed last week that terms had been agreed with News Group Newspapers (NGN).
