Training Day

The 2001 crime thriller Training Day is one of the best movies directed by Antoine Fuqua. Many critics consider it a cult film. In Training Day, Denzel Washington played antagonist for the first time in his career.

The movie takes place in one day of young and ambitious police officer Jake Hoyt, who is going to get promoted soon. His partner, detective Alonzo Harris, decides to check his skills.

He takes him to an improvised tour of the most criminal neighborhoods of Los Angeles. Eventually, turns out that Harris is a corrupt cop who break the law multiple times throughout the day. The young police officer does not like that, so he decides to take control of the situation.

The Book of Eli

This is the fourth film directed by The Hughes Brothers, the cult Hollywood directors and producers. It is set in a post-apocalyptic world. Humanity is on the verge of extinction after a massive global catastrophe. Earth is turning into a desert with no natural resources or electricity.

The protagonist Eli is a lonely nomad who travels around the former United States and tries to stay away from problems. However, it seems that trouble finds him in this cruel world.

The ruler of a small town wants to get Eli’s book and puts a price on his head. After seeing this movie, I only wish our future would not be as dark.
